What I’ve go to do to get the image! | Newborn Baby Family Photographer Fremantle Perth

What I’ve got to do to get the image....

Sometimes no matter how well we plan the session, my little clients’ parents do everything I ask them. They follow the guides down to the T, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out.

We have to remember that littles have their own personalities very early on. They might not have slept so well the night before, or have sore/gassy little tummies... and not to mention the hiccups...

And even my little older clients - they will either be teething or all they want to do is run around and discover things, rather than sitting down for a photo.

Well this is where the “big guns” come out. With my little newborn clients:

*  My aim is to make them as comfortable as possible, I swaddle and sway them. Mum and I work together to get bub to the relaxed sleepy stage, we feed, burb and cuddle until bub is relaxed enough to pose, from here I gently move bub to see where his comfort zone and limits are. And as with all my Newborn clients, we work and move slowly. I pose bub in the simplest of poses, with supports under all his joints. Little cushions that hold him safe and tight. - As you know baby safety is always my number one priority.

*  And even with the above, there are always some images that haven’t made the final cut...

Then there are my older little clients - With them things can be a little more challenging, but never fear...

* After many sing songs, I’ve made myself a little playlist, featuring artists such as The Wiggles etc. Haha. We sing and clap to bring out those inquisitive natures.

* Keys, bubbles and bells - these are always on my list of things to distract them with.

* And when these tricks doesn’t work, we get even sillier - Sometimes they only way they will co-operate is if mum or dad does it first, see below for some examples...

But no matter how hard the session is, I always have my workflow plan and back up plan, as I know how precious these moments and little milestones are. I always do my best to deliver what I set out to do.

What is the funniest thing you’ve heard or seen happened during a photo session??
